How to wear an oversized sweater without looking like an oversized mess!
Oversized sweaters are always the most stylish comfortable piece you can have in your closet. It’s easy to dress it up and down, but if you choose the wrong style, you can wind up looking malnourished or you can look 10 lbs heavier. Here’s an easy way to shop for your body type
The Issue: Broad shoulders
The Solution: Clean angled lines that draw attention away from the shoulders. Angled lines help to take the attention off broad shoulders. Choose sweaters with aesthetics lines or set in shoulder seams.
The Issue: Broad Hips
The Solution: No waistband around the hips (unless you want to showcase the bubble butt). The slouchy sweater that does not have a waist band is best for round hips because it does not cling to the hip. Sweaters that cling the hips can lose shape in the waist and add extra weight around the hips. Avoid banded sweaters.
Left to Right: Soft Joie Atticus Sweater, Cashmere Sweater ( Polyvore), Grey Heather Sweater( Net- a- Porter)
The Issue: Large Frame
The Solution: Shawl Collars and chunky knits help to slim a larger frame when wearing oversized knits. The oversized shawl collar helps to slim the body by adding some balance to a larger frame, this can also be achieved with a oversized chunky knit sweater.
The Issue : Narrow Hips
The solution: Longer sweaters. To avoid drawing attention to your narrow hips make sure to wear a longer sweater that covers the hips, this will help to create balance for your frame while flattering your shape. This is also great for the brick shape!
The Issue: Large Chest
The Solution: V-Neck, Scoop Necks. Large chest can be problematic for oversized sweaters. Having a large chest can distort the shape of an oversized sweater. To avoid the distortion choose oversized sweater that have V-Neck or scoop necks to help balance your frame. Or choose a top that takes away the heaviness up top by revealing some skin.
As with all style, these are just tips to help you better fit your shape. You know your shape best so mix and match tips to help find you a comfortable fit. Be happy with your body and look sharp! Image is a Must!
