Henny a Day Keeps the Shade Away: Big Girl Sangria

In lieu of the events of my life this week  I decided to share my drink of the day from my favorite spirit, Hennessy.

I came across these recipes at  a Hennessy event  hosted by my friend Anna. This past week has been a heavy week due to a family friend passing away in an untimely manner, then a close friend was arrested… On top of having the most unsuccessful work week in sales that resulted in no new clients…Soooo I could use a drink and if you do too, then follow the recipe below for a delicious nightcap and relax some.

Henny Wine

Henny Wine

Hennessy Mulled Wine

1 pint Hennessy VS

2 bottles of red wine

1 cup honey

4 sticks cinnamon

8 pods cardamom (Cracked open)

12 whole cloves

1 tsp. grated ginger root

1 tsp. grated nutmeg

4 bay leaves

1 vanilla pod

1 orange

4 clementine’s

2 lemons

Garnish: lemon twist

Method: Peel large sections of peel from your clementine, lemon and orange. Put the honey in a large saucepan over a medium heat, add the pieces of peel and squeeze in the clementine and lemon juice.  Now add the spices, your halved vanilla pod and stir in 1 cup of red wine.

Let these simmer until the honey and wine have combined and then bring to a boil. Keep on a rolling boil for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until you’ve got a thick syrup. Turn the heat to low, remove the bay leaves and citrus peels and add the Hennessy and the rest of the red wine. Don’t let it boil, or you risk burning off the alcohol. Leave over low heat for about 30 minutes while the flavors combine. Continue stirring occasionally. The liquid should now be hot and ready to serve.

This batch will last all week…or end of the night if you are about that life.
